When Sunderland AFC’s charitable arm – the Foundation of Light – recently made the strategic decision to separate their digital estate from the main SAFC.com site, they selected Leighton as their digital partner to support them through this process and beyond.
Keen to offer their users, stakeholders and the general public clearer and quicker access to news, fundraising opportunities and information on courses and coaching, the Foundation of Light required guidance from Leighton on a whole range of challenges. As a standalone charitable organisation that targets raising over £4m every year, clearly the new site was vital to the Foundation’s development going forward. Pleasingly, for a site built with the future in mind more than half of monthly visits are made on a mobile device while visitor numbers have been growing by 40-50% in the site’s first six months. The Foundation have reported excellent statistics for the booking of courses online and for donations via the website in line with their targets.
