We’re delighted to announce the launch of Leighton LABS – thought to be one of the first fully functioning “start up studios” to be created outside of London, with big ambitions for digital innovation and business generation.
Originating in Silicon Valley, the start up studio is an innovative business creation approach which brings together everything required to build a successful tech business; the team, culture, creativity, technology and capital. With a long history in developing and spinning out innovative businesses such as 4Projects and Communicator, Leighton are ideally positioned to develop a studio of our own. The Leighton LABS team will work to discover, design, and nurture new digital products & services.
Head of Innovation for the LABS, Mark Hibbert said: “Developing ideas to change the world is a big statement, but that’s genuinely the purpose of Leighton LABS. We intend to grow some great ideas into successful businesses that challenge the status quo and change the way people think, live, and work.”
At the launch of the LABS, Leighton CEO Lyle McCalmont said: “We’re really proud to announce the arrival of Leighton LABS. We’ve put together a really talented team who will explore a whole range of topics from mobile and customer engagement to digital convergence and the utilisation of open data and beyond. As both an opportunity to create new revenue streams and add value to our offering to clients this is an exciting and significant milestone in our company development.”
With a clear focus on R&D, innovation and the latest technology, Leighton’s start up studio intends to create partnerships and invest in collaborative research with a number of current clients and partner organisations.
